The Regulation about Privacy forms an integral part of the following Cookie Policy, including the rights the User will assert by contacting the addresses which have been previously mentioned. According to the Regulation EU 679/2016 and the dispositions given by the Italian Data Protection Authority -with the resolution dated 8th of May 2014 about the ways to simplify the Regulation and the consent acquisition on cookies usage (published on the Official Journal nr. 126 od the 3rd June 2014) and then respecting all explanations that followed-, the Data Controller will here provide with his own Cookie Policy. The Cookie Policy aims to give the Data Subject all the details about the art. 13 of the Regulation EU 679/2016 and to deeply describe in a specific and analytical way features and purposes of the cookies installed on the website, with the opportunity given to the User to control/delete each single cookie. Data processing through the use of cookies is done with automated means and the time they are stored is up to the nature of the cookies which have been used.

What are cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website sends to the browser (e.g. Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc) when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences over a period of time, so you don't have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.

Why are cookies useful

Thanks to the use of cookies the visited website recognizes the user’s device and improve the browsing experience. Among the purposes of cookies are the opportunity for the User to effectively browse from a web page to another, to remember preferences, to memorize the language etc. What is more, cookies enable publicity messages to be more targeted and focused on the user specific interests.

Cookies classification

Cookies are classified into three different types: depending on the duration the cookie may be a session cookie, that means it can be automatically deleted when the browser is closed, or persistent cookie, which means it is active till its expiry date or until the user deletes this; depending on the origin, the cookie may be a first party cookie, that means the website sends the cookie to the browser directly; or a third party cookie, in this case other websites send the cookie to the browser and not the website has been visited. Up to the purpose, a cookie may be a technical cookie or a profiling cookie. The difference between the last two needs to be properly analyzed.

The technical cookie enables the User to improve his browsing experience. In fact, without the use of technical cookies some actions would be very complicated or even impossible to be made. These cookies (which may be first or third party cookies, session or permanent cookies) do not need any previous consent by the User to be installed.

Technical cookies are “strictly necessary” as they allow the User to effectively browse the web site and appreciate the essential features, such as performing cyber authentication or to memorizing previous actions. If these cookies are blocked, the browser experience will be compromised.

Technical cookies may be “functional” when they provide the User with a better browsing experience by memorizing his expressed preferences such as language, name, place. By blocking these cookies, the browsing experience will not be compromised, but the User will not take advantage of these very useful services.

Technical cookies may also be “analytical” when they provide the website with useful information about the interaction by the Users, they analyze the number of pages visited, the time spent on the website, the most visited pages and any other detail that came from browsing, such as the errors occurred on the visited page. These cookies enable the Data Controller to obtain statistical data about the browsing and aim to improve the services offered to the User.

Analytical cookies have technical nature (not a profiling one) only when Website Controller uses means that do not make the User identify the analytical cookies used, as for example by masking parts of the IP address. In order to install technical cookies the User consent is not compulsory, so-if the website only uses technical cookies-Website Controller does not need to have the consent through the cookie banner. However, the extended disclosure that you are reading right now is mandatory.

Profiling cookies only work after the User consent. The consent is given by clicking OK (or any other buttons) on the banner you find on the home page or on any other pages of the same website. Profiling cookies aim to improve services offered to the User during surfing, to select and send publicity according to the preferences and tastes shown by the User while browsing. The use of profiling cookies to send targeted publicity does not make the User see many ads; his browsing experience will not be damaged. In fact, by deleting profiling cookies the User will only see generic publicity ads and not targeted messages.

Among profiling cookies you may find: statistical-analytical cookies of third party without IP masking and cross-reference; publicity cookies, advertising cookies, tracing cookies or conversion cookies.

  1. 2. How to control/delete cookies

Unless the User does not give his consent in case of profiling cookies, most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. By changing your browser settings cookies may be limited or even blocked. In order to properly manage cookies you need to check the user manual or information provided by your browser by following the below listed links (related to the most common browser)

If the User uses more than one browser, the procedure to delete cookies needs to be followed for each one of them. If the User uses different devices (such as smart phone or tablet), he needs to check the user manual of each device for cookie un-installing.
